100TH SALE GIVEAWAY!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS ALL DONE! CONGRATS TO THE WINNERS! :)

We made it to 100 sales at Nooch Fiber! Go us! I’m so so happy – it’s almost our 6 month anniversary and I feel like 100 sales is not too shabby. :)

To celebrate we’re doing a super awesome giveaway of these four beautiful mini skeins (45yds / superwash merino / hand dyed):

Last time we did a giveaway there were lots and lots of comments, so this time we’ve decided to give each mini skein away to one person, meaning that four people get to win! Yay!

In order to be in the running, please visit Nooch Fiber and take a look at our stock first! (We really appreciate it!) Then come back here and comment on this post! It’s that easy. The four winners will be selected on February 5th, 2012 through a random number generator. :D

But that’s not all! As a thanks to everyone who has supported us we are offering a brand new coupon until February 5th: NOOCH100 will give you 20% off your entire purchase!

Thanks everyone and hope to see your comments soon! Much love! <3

Good thing you watch this blog!

This is a special shout out to people who are subscribed to this blog, because I’m only posting this here and on our facebook page!

Here’s the deal: we’re at 99 sales over at Nooch Fiber. We really want to get to 100 because that’s when we’ll be starting up SUPER AWESOME festivities on this blog and giving away several mini skeins!

How can you help? Well, it’s supposed to be a secret, but the person who is responsible for our 100th sale is going to get a custom dyed full size skein of sock yarn OR 5 custom dyed mini skeins! Have you been holding out on getting something over at Nooch that you like? Right now might be a good time…….. ;)

Fine print – I’m probably going to be going to bed relatively soon. Just keep in mind that this will be go to the 100th sale – if it’s already at 100, that means someone else already got it. :)

Happy Sunday!

It’s great to spend time in our new apartment on the weekends… We finally have enough space to just hang out! Woo!

I’ve been very busy with my new ladybug spinning wheel. Check out all the spinning I’ve done in the past week or so:

2-ply fingering

Single-ply fingering

2-ply worsted

2-ply worsted

2-ply fingering

2-ply worsted

Pretty cool, huh? It’s a LOT faster than spinning on a spindle… I’m pretty sure I’m going to start selling mini skeins of fingering handspun on Nooch Fiber! :D Speaking of Nooch Fiber, I just added two new sets of mini skeins (with many MANY more to come, promise!):

There are LOTS more drying right now, to be posted tomorrow or the day after. :) I’m also planning another fun giveaway here on the blog and some special coupons…………. So keep an eye out for that post! :D

Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend! :D

NOOCH FIBER MINI-SKEIN GIVEAWAY RESULTS!

Drumroll please….

Commenter #2 –

Congratulations JOE BOCANEGRA!

Check your inbox for an e-mail from me. :)

Thanks so much to everyone who commented – this was super fun! I’m thinking of doing it again sometime in the near future, so stay tuned! :D

Here is what Joe’s getting in the mail:

If you’re still wanting some mini skeins, make sure to check out Nooch Fiber!

Huge post of hugeness!!

This is going to be a huge post because I’ve been slacking! Two main areas: puffs and dyeing! (warning – image heavy)

So first up: PUFFS!

I’m up to 61 puffs!! Woohoo, 15% done! :)

Here are my three faves:

The middle and right one are from my own handspun – spinning for my hexpuffs is my new thing!! So much fun. I also bought some new yarns especially for puffs. In the picture below, you can see two of my single-ply handspuns on the left, a cute little white mohair yarn (kidsilk), and some noro silk garden sock on the right:

I can’t wait until I have a little more cash, I’ll definitely be buying some more roving to spin up for my puffs.

Second up: dyeing!!

First of all, there is a pretty big update over at Nooch Fiber – all mini-skeins. I put some of them up in 4 sets, some up in 2 sets (for stocking stuffers, etc.). Here is a picture of all the minis together: (MAKE SURE TO CLICK ON THE PANORAMIC ONE!)

Okay, so that might have been a little bit of a picture overload, but I’m really into these colors so I had to make sure that they were all nicely visible! :) I plan on dyeing this much again today. Can’t wait to have the shop totally full!!

I also dyed a couple things for me from the scraps that didn’t quite make it to 45yds:

Annnndddd bonus pictures of Nooch laying on my puffs:

Questions from the Giveaway!

Good morning!

I had some responses for some of the people who commented on the giveaway thread (don’t forget to comment for your chance to win two mini-skeins!), so I figured I would do them here instead of screw up the comment count by replying in the actual thread.

I wish I could spin the roving colors are lovely! And the small hexapuff collections look like a lot of fun to knit.

Your rovings make me wish I knew how to spin. But if I spin, when will I knit??

You should all definitely try out spinning! It’s one of my favorite hobbies now and it’s totally portable and affordable if you’re just starting out with a drop spindle. I use the Turkish drop spindle from knitpicks and love it!

Pretty! Something awesome– I may be able to start working on my Beekeeper’s Quilt again tomorrow, after my arm has been giving me problems. I’m up to 30 puffs!

I feel you! :( I also have problems with my hands/arms/fingers that can sometimes make it difficult to knit/spin/have fun. Currently I’m struggling with an annoying base joint on my thumb (De Quervain’s Syndrome) and some trigger fingers in my right hand. Ugh!

love that you have hunger games themed stuff- I have only read 1 or 2 of these books(i have to ask my daughter-she gave me them to read, but I know we don’t have them all) and I loooooved the books. I feel like a re-read then I need to come back to check out the fibery goodness to see what I just can’t live without. You have been favorited.

Yay! We love to dye “collections” in cool themes! I REALLY loved those books and the colors are the way that I see the characters. :)

Lovely yarn! I handed in my proposal for my dissertation on Friday, yay! Though that mightn’t be very awesome to people who aren’t me. So another awesome thing is that Christopher Lee is coming to give a talk in my college this week. I am an excited fangirl.
My Ravelry name is Forkis, and in case I missed anything about the offer being counrty-specific, I’ll pay for any extra cost associated with shipping to Ireland if I win!

Congrats on your dissertation proposal!!! I will be at that stage in less than 1 year! o.o A little bit scary to think about, haha. And the offer is not US only – I’m happy to ship anywhere else in the world! :D

Tell me about the hexi-puffs. Sounds interesting! I don’t have any cats or dogs but I knit for my teddy bears and grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Wow – that’s a lot of children! :D The hexpuffs are part of a large quilt/blanket and are so fun to knit, since each one feels like a little happy victorious FO when you finish it! :) They’re stuffed for extra warmth which makes them super squishy, too! You can search ravelry for The Beekeeper’s Quilt pattern to see.

I wish i knew how to dye yarn! The “christmas” yarns in this give away will make an awesome sweater for my son’s 1st christmas!

It’s really not hard! There are lots of tutorials online and you can start out with Kool-aid, which is totally non-toxic and can be used in your kitchen! :)
